Eastern Wyoming College Student Receives Award at Wyoming Community College Conference

Eastern Wyoming College would like to announce the recognition of student Jenna Weyrich, who won the Student of the Year Award at the Wyoming Community College Conference held in Cheyenne, WY on February 22, 2008. Weyrich was nominated by her peers for the Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees Award.

Achievement awards were given for "Student of the Year", "Classified Staff Member of the Year", "Faculty Member of the Year", "Professional Staff Member of the Year", and "Board of Trustees or Foundation Board Volunteer of the Year". Nomination packets included examples on how the nominee has had a positive impact on their community college, leadership roles and involvement in the community.

Weyrich maintains above satisfactory grades while attending EWC full-time. She has also been a successful student while excelling at her job as a part-time teller at a local bank, her additional job as an after school tutor in our grade school system, and as a volunteer in our community. She also serves as the secretary for the Student Senate. During the summer of 2007, Jenna was chosen to serve on the EWC Presidential Search Committee. The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gerig's Disease) organization in Goshen County is chaired by Weyrich.

Other Eastern Wyoming College nominees included Judy Brown for "Professional Staff Member of the Year" and Pete Cawiezel for "Classified Staff Member of the Year".
